Learning to speak, read, and write a second language will deepen your understanding of another culture and of your own language, thus enriching your life. Approximately 90 million people speak German as a first language. It is the sole official language of Germany, Austria, and Liechtenstein, and the co-official or minority language in seven other European countries.
