Stage 2 Assessment Type 3: Examination
The Auslan (continuers) examination consists of two assessments: an interactive sign examination and a sign comprehension and sign production examination that are assessed externally.

Interactive sign examination
The interactive sign examination takes approximately 15 minutes and has two sections:
- Section 1: Conversation and Discussion (approximately 7 minutes)
- Section 2: Presentation and Response (approximately 8 minutes).
Sign comprehension and sign production examination
Students undertake one sign comprehension and sign production examination, which has two sections:
- Section 1: Watching and Responding to Informal Signed Texts
- Section 2: Watching and Responding to Formal Signed Texts.
The length of the sign comprehension and sign production examination is 2 hours, plus 10 minutes' viewing or reading time. Instructions for students are on a DVD in Auslan and written in English.
