School assessment component

Teachers assess the evidence of student learning for:

  • Assessment Type 1: Project Skills
  • Assessment Type 2: Collaborative Project.

The SACE Board quality assures the school assessment results through final moderation.

Refer to SACE Assessment and Reporting Guidelines [PDF 290KB] and SACE Stage 2 Moderation Overview [DOC 33KB] for information about the policy context and procedures.

Moderation sample selection

Teachers select the moderation sample of school-assessed materials to submit to the SACE Board.

Refer to Moderation sample selection, which includes FAQs and an instructional video.

Submitting school assessment materials for final moderation

School assessment materials for Stage 2 Digital Technologies will be submitted using school assessment results sheets in Schools Online.
For more information see Online submission of materials.

Supervision and verification

Refer to the information in Supervision and Verification of Student's Work Policy and Procedures [DOC 90KB] on the use of the record sheet [DOC 164KB] to record and authenticate each student's work. If used, these sheets are to be kept in the school until the end of the clerical check period.

External assessment component

Students create and evaluate one digital solution or prototype.

The solution or prototype should include:

  • original source code and/or adapted code displaying selection, repetition, and sequencing, accompanied by design comments
  • algorithm design
  • graphical user interface and/or instructions for use.

The solution or prototype must be supported by a designer’s statement that discusses:

  • the effectiveness of the solution or prototype
  • a feature or features that could be considered innovative in solving the problem.

The individual digital solution and supporting documentation (code, design comments, graphical user interface and/or instructions for use) should be submitted in multimodal form.

The digital solution or prototype should be no more than 1 GB, with a maximum time limit of 15 minutes.

The designer’s statement should be a maximum of 3 minutes if oral, 500 words if written, or the equivalent if multimodal.

Submitting materials for external assessment

External assessment materials for Stage 2 Digital Technologies will be submitted for online marking using investigation results sheets in Schools Online.
