Stage 2 Assessment Type 3: Examination (30%)
The French(continuers) examination is an e-exam which consists of two assessments: an oral examination and a written examination that are assessed externally.
- The oral examination is weighted at 30% of the external assessment.
- The written examination is weighted at 70% of the external assessment.
Oral examination
The oral examination takes approximately 8 - 10 minutes.
The examination consists of a general conversation between the student and the examiner(s) about the student’s personal world.
All oral examinations are conducted via an online video conferencing platform.
The complete timetable for oral examinations will be provided to schools in early September. The date of the oral examination will be available on the French (continuers) online calendar.

- Section 3: Writing in French.
Refer to the subject outline for details of the examination requirements.
The timetable for continuers written examinations will be published during June.

Sample exams
-
Sample exams better reflect the types of questions students may be asked in future electronic exams. Questions may include media types which have not been possible in a paper exam (e.g. watching a video and responding). Practising these will help students become familiar with the way questions are asked, and the features of the exam system (e.g. spellcheck and highlighting).
Sample exams may not be provided for each year. They are only published when there is a significant change to the exam, like a new question type or new functionality.
