Stage 2 Assessment Type 3: Examination (30%)

The Italian (continuers) examination consists of two assessments: an oral examination and a written examination that are assessed externally.

  • The oral examination is weighted at 30% of the external assessment.
  • The written examination is weighted at 70% of the external assessment.

Oral examination  

The oral examination takes approximately 8 - 10 minutes. 

The examination consists of a general conversation between the student and the examiner(s) about the student’s personal world.  

All oral examinations are conducted via an online video conferencing platform.  

The complete timetable for oral examinations will be provided to schools in early September. The date of the oral examination will be available on the  Italian (continuers) online calendar.

Written examination  
The Italian (continuers) examination is an e-exam. Students undertake one written 130 minute examination, which has three sections: 

  • Section 1: Listening and Responding
  • Section 2: Reading and Responding
  • Section 3: Writing in Italian.

The timetable for continuers written examinations will be published during June.
