Stage 2 Assessment Type 4: Examination (30%)
The Spanish (beginners) examination consists of two assessments: an oral examination and a written examination that are assessed externally.
The oral examination is weighted at 20% of the external assessment
The written examination is weighted at 80% of the external assessment.
Oral examination
The oral examination takes approximately 10 minutes and has two sections:
- Section 1: Oral Presentation and Discussion (approximately 5 minutes)
- Section 2: Conversation (approximately 5 minutes).
The complete timetable for oral examinations will be provided to schools in early September. The date of the oral examination will be available on the Spanish (beginners) online calendar.
Written examination
Students undertake one written examination, which has three sections:
- Section 1: Listening
- Section 2: Reading
- Section 3: Writing in Spanish.
The length of the written examination is 160 minutes.
The written examination for Spanish at beginners level is designed by the New South Wales Board of Studies.
