Learning to speak, read, and write a second language will deepen your understanding of another culture and of your own language, thus enriching your life. You will study the modern standard version of spoken and written Khmer, which is the language of present-day Cambodia. The Keng Vannsak spelling system will be used for teaching and exams, but you can respond using either Keng Vannsak spelling or the Choun Nath system. Competency in this language will give you the option to pursue careers in interpreting, translation, education, and health both in Australia and overseas.
